Sélénocystéine synthase

La sélénocystéine synthase est une transférase qui catalyse la réaction :

L-séryl-ARNt^Sec SePO₃^3–  ${\displaystyle \rightleftharpoons }$  L-sélénocystéinyl-ARNt^Sec OPO₃^3–.

Cette enzyme intervient dans la biosynthèse de la sélénocystéine à partir de la sérine en convertissant le L-séryl-ARNt^Sec en L-sélénocystéinyl-ARNt^Sec à partir de sélénophosphate SePO₃^3–. Elle utilise le phosphate de pyridoxal comme cofacteur.
